It’s easy to find things to fear. Being the midst of the pandemic, we can be immobilized by the fear of catching COVID – whether or not we are vaccinated. Or we might fear losing our jobs or being left alone without a friend. We might fear speaking out and asking for what we want in a relationship. Perhaps we fear that the confrontation over Ukraine will trigger World War III. Some people are simply afraid that they cannot find enough food for themselves or their family.
At the spiritual level, we know that there is only One Power and Presence in the Universe. Whatever we feel comfortable calling that One Power, be it God, the Infinite Invisible, our Higher Power, Buddha, Allah or some other name, God is all there is, the one and only limitless Source of all energy and all creation. Whether we experience love or fear, it has been created by that One Ultimate Energy.
Fear is based on the false belief in duality, a belief that there are two powers in the universe. Just as the darkness vanishes when the Light enters, fear vanishes when we shift our mental attitude to faith in the Power and Presence of Spirit. The Loving Presence will dispel all fear and light our path.
Ego prefers that we believe in separation from God and from each other. Our egos may call us to fight our fears, to label them as demons that we must fight with all our energy. The battle will continue until we remember to declare the Truth that God is the only Power and Presence. There is no place where God is not. The darkness and our fears vanish when we turn to the Light and Love within us and all around us. Divine Love is the ultimate fear-buster.
