When I reach a mountaintop after a long, perhaps difficult climb, the magnificence of the view rewards me for making the journey. With joy and gratitude, I celebrate reaching the summit! Making it through the last few years with all the challenges and isolation related to the global COVID-19 pandemic is a victory to be celebrated as we draw near to the end of this arduous journey together.
Surveying the world from a mountaintop perch can be breath-taking and transformative. The world has a new perspective when we can see in all directions without obstructions. Obstacles that seemed impassable on the journey upward now become small in comparison to the whole landscape. We can see beyond the pathway immediately ahead of us and see alternative pathways and new peaks to climb. We feel that we are part of the whole world, the whole universe, not just the limited space immediately around us.
Spiritual evolution is much like climbing a mountain. As we work our way upward, drawn by the call of Spirit to a higher consciousness, we go through a process of spiritual transformation. We discover and learn to release limiting and false beliefs that have been obscuring our path or blocking our way upward. As Spiritual Truth is revealed, it inspires us and guides us higher on our path. We awaken to our own spiritual magnificence and the power of our thought and our choices! We also meet companions along the way to share the journey. From the mountaintop’s perspective, we realize that each mountaintop, each person, has their own unique and splendid spiritual magnificence! Together we form the whole landscape, the Whole of the One Life expressing Itself in, through and as the world.
This weekend many members of the Center for Spiritual Living Tahoe-Truckee community are participating in a retreat at the Ananda Expanding Light Center entitled: Nurturing the Spirit Within: Self-Care during Turbulent Times. We won’t have a regular service this Sunday in person or on zoom, but we invite each of you to take time for your own retreat and climb to the mountaintop of your spiritual awareness. Breathe in the magnificent view, give gratitude for reaching this summit, and then ponder: what is the next, even greater, destination that is calling?
Love and light,
Rev Pam
