In the midst of a world that is focused on the conflict in Ukraine, it is easy to feel caught up in a web of discord that pervades life everywhere. As President Biden gave his State of the Union speech last night, almost a third of it was dedicated to Ukraine. Democrats and Republicans found themselves united as they stood together to applaud the Ukrainians and their efforts to valiantly defend their country and their freedom.
Everyone also applauded Ukraine’s President Zelensky who has chosen to stay and lead his citizens rather than flee the country to protect his own life. Before being elected president, Zelensky earned a law degree and then pursued a career as a comedian, film producer and actor who portrayed the President of Ukraine in a TV show called Servant of the People. With this unusual background, Zelensky has been able to passionately speak for the Ukrainian people and their love and pride for the country they hold so dear. In their 30 years of freedom as an independent democracy, they have become the Silicon Valley of Europe.
The Ukrainian deep connection with the Creative Spirit within is manifesting as the resourceful spirit of Ukraine and provides Zelensky and the Ukrainian people with their resilience and willingness to speak Truth to power. They are empowered by feeling and knowing the freedom of living life with its greater possibilities. It is the power of knowing who they truly are that is unshakeable in the face of discord and the Russian invasion.
The Christian mystic Christian Larson said, “Believe in yourself and all that you are. Know that there is something inside you that is greater than any obstacle.” The inner freedom of knowing this Truth in the midst of discord, of knowing that the Divine Power and Presence of Love within us is expressing Itself in us, through us and as us, sets us free.
Love and light,
Rev. Pam
