When we celebrate Easter, we think of spring and new life. New life is celebrated with bunnies and baby chicks. Easter baskets are filled with colorfully decorated eggs and jelly beans nestled in soft grass. We follow the tradition of dressing up in new Easter outfits with bright spring colors. In an earlier century we might have paraded down Fifth Avenue with our beau in our finery complete with a beautiful Easter bonnet or top hat.
These are all external expressions of the new life that is born within us when we realize the Spiritual Truth that will set us free. The Spirit within Jesus that expressed Itself through and as Jesus, as the Christ Consciousness, is the same Spirit that lives in you and me. Ernest Holmes believed that “The Spirit within me, being God, cannot be limited in any way.” (Ernest Holmes, 365 Science of Mind, p. 294) Underneath all appearances, despite any illusions or beliefs to the contrary, the very Life Force that lives through each one of us is God expressing Itself. Any sense of bondage we sense is like covering up a lamp with a bushel basket. Jesus told us, “You are the light of the world. Don’t hide your light under a basket! Instead, put it on a stand and let it shine for all.” (Matthew 5:14-15, NLT) The brilliant light within us is the Spirit of God waiting to be uncovered so that it can illuminate our lives and the world. The Christ Consciousness is not limited to Jesus. He showed us all the path that we can follow to awaken the eternal Inner Light, the Christ Consciousness within our own hearts and minds.
Come celebrate Easter with us this Sunday as we follow the path of the Master Teacher Jesus. Come celebrate the eternal Inner Light awakening within Jesus – and within each one of us!
Love and light,
Rev. Pam
